Lookup an IP when you have the Hostname

If you find yourself in a situation where you have the hostname of a server or device, but you cannot remember the IP address of that server, there is a handy little Windows Command-Prompt command that can help you track it down.

Open your command prompt and type the following:

nslookup [HOSTNAME]

As you can guess, replace ‘HOSTNAME’ with the hostname of the device you are looking for and you will see its associated IP Address.

Very helpful for looking things up on the fly!
