Lookup an IP when you have the Hostname

There will no doubt be times in your career when you have the hostname of a server or device, but you cannot for the life of you remember the IP address of that server.

There is a handy little command-prompt command that can help you track it down.

Open your command prompt and type the following:

nslookup [HOSTNAME]

As you can guess, replace ‘HOSTNAME’ with the hostname of the device you are looking for and you will run into your answer.

Very helpful for looking things up on the fly!
